FUNCTIONAL HARMONY
Voicing, comping and improvisation
with Manuele Montesanti

You've been playing over chords for years and you couldn't build a C major from scratch. It isn't your ear. What's missing is the recipe underneath.
Manuele Montesanti asks everybody that question, and that's where he starts: root, four semitones, another three, and the triad is under your hand. Over 10 lessons the thirds turn into the voicings you comp with, and the II-V-Is are laid out as a table in the 23-page booklet. Montesanti teaches in Italian, and every lesson is subtitled in English.
Tonight you sit down, read a chord symbol and build it as you read, choosing the note you put on top.
The care for every detail allows us to offer a nearly live educational experience with the teacher, directly at your home.

Once you purchase the course, it will be yours forever and we will always be ready to offer you assistance to allow you to use it freely whenever you want.

THE COURSE DETAILS
Before: you read the chord symbols, but your hands keep falling into the same shapes. In C you get there, in F sharp minor you don't.
After: you learn to build every chord from scratch, working it through all twelve keys, because you can see its geometry.
Manuele Montesanti starts from triads and gets to open voicings following a single thread: the distance between the notes. Along the way you get his II-V-I table, handwritten in pencil, the one he carries around with him, and close-voiced comping. Then substitutions on the dominant seventh chord, groove, and the patterns to improvise without thinking about scales.
Ten lessons and the booklet with every transcription. With practice you no longer remember the shapes: you rebuild them.
START NOWIntroduction to functional harmony, the geometric construction of chords starting from triads to complex substitutions.
Manuele focuses on building major triads using basic harmonic knowledge, then expanding them into more complex chord forms.
Exercises on the harmonization of hexatonic scales with major and minor triads, and introduction of four-part chords.
Voicing of chords and harmonizations.
"We treat comping with tight voicings for solo piano or accompaniments, emphasizing the integration of the bass."
Harmonic substitutions in minor seventh and ninth chords and extensions in improvisational contexts.
"Let's explore the functions and substitutions of the dominant seventh chord, with a focus on Sus and altered chords."
Insights on creating grooves and controlling dynamics in musical performance.
Let's discuss the creation of improvisational patterns using harmonic tables, focusing on advanced arpeggio techniques.
"Let's conclude with advanced comping techniques through various musical styles."

MANUEL MONTESANTI
Manuele Montesanti started his musical adventure back in 1985, when his parents gave him a toy piano.
He thus began to cultivate a great passion for music, which led him to classical studies at the prestigious Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome. All of this until he arrived at his true love: synthesizers.
He then specialized in Jazz/Contemporary Piano, Harmony, Comping, Composition and Arrangement at the UM "University of Music in Rome."
Today, his musical activity is divided into that of a session man (live & studio) and that of an arranger, sound designer, and demonstrator for both musical productions (soundtracks, video games, apps, etc.) and for the development and promotion of musical software and hardware with Yamaha Synth, Native Instruments, Novation, Ik Multimedia, Audiothing etc…
"In addition, he is a teacher and founder of the portal lezionipianoforte.net, as well as the keyboardist and founder of the band "Drift Lab" with Matteo Mancuso, Federico Malaman, and Daniele Chiantese."
